United Nations Female Police Officer of the Year Award

The Annual United Nations Female Police Officer of the Year Award, was presented on Monday (19 November) for the first time in UNHQ. This year's award goes to an officer who distinguished herself, through her exemplary conduct performance and outstanding achievements, and has had a significant impact within her area of responsibility on mandated policing tasks.

The award aims to establish a role model for women police officers serving in peace operations and to promote the UN Secretary General’s Gender Parity Strategy and Department of Peace Operations' Uniformed Gender Parity Strategy through encouraging Member-States to deploy more female police officers to peacekeeping and special political missions.

The award was presented to this year’s awardee at a ceremony co-hosted by the United Nations Police Division of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations.

This year Awardee, is Ms. Phyllis Osei, a United Nations Police Officer working with the United Nations Assstance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).
